This time of the year I tend to start thinking of Christmas's past...both good and...not so good.
Today, I was thinking about the time I played Martin Luther King Jr. way back in 1966 (or 67.) I was 6 or 7 years old...can't quite remember, but I do remember there was a school play and it was a huge production for my elementary school
It was Cole-ridge Taylor Elementary, to be exact.
I don't quite remember what the play was about...maybe the history of famous people. I remember there were a history of slaves, and songs by the " Jackson 5" and "The Supremes. "... lip -synced by fellow students.
My speech had to be memorized and over 50 years later (?)(!) I still remember it. It was the "I Have A Dream" speech. It was the finale of the play, so it was a key element of the production, or so I like to say (ahem).
Now...I can't remember what I did yesterday, but I remember a speech I gave over 50 years ago....word for word...
Life is strange...isn't it?
