'A friend of my family', Fats Domino, died a couple of weeks ago and I must pay him his propers.
My father was a huge (did I say huge?) HUGE fan of Mr. Domino and as kids , he let us know it.
I remember at bed time , he would sneak in our rooms and regal us with "Blue Monday", "I'm Gonna Be A Wheel Someday", "Ain't That A Shame" and of course, his favorite, "Blueberry Hill."
Fats was such a part of my life as a kid that to this day , I own a copy of his greatest hits and listen to it on a regular basis.
(I even find myself humming, "Valley of Tears", while I am writing this blog entry...)
It seems like we are losing all the great music heroes of my life...Fats, Prince...Tom Petty...George Michael...
Someone once asked if there was a " Rock and Roll Heaven"...I truly and honestly believe that there is and hopefully I will see it some day...
