There has been a lot of discussions lately about our favorite songs, or concerts, or foods...
I am gonna take it a tad further...what is your favorite decade?
Being a child of the 60s (...well. I was born in 1960...ahem...) I understand the passion with the "Summer of Love", and I have friends who dote on the "Smooth 70s"....but my favorite decade is the 80s!
Why? ...Let me count the ways...
Number One, U of L won two basketball championships in the 80s, and that should be enough, but wait...there's more...
TV ruled with shows like "Dallas" and "Cheers" and 'Alf" (?)(!)
Music brought us Prince and Flock of Seagulls (?)(!), and lots of good sounds that have become classics.
I had three children in the 80s, and I wrote for the "Courier-Journal" and "Louisville Defender",
and "Entertainer Magazine."
I had some of my best gigs,, and met some of my best friends, and "the love of my life" (that lasted about two years)...
Yeah...the 80s were pretty sweet...pretty sweet, indeed...
