I remember when I was a kid, Columbia Record House used to have ads in the comic books. .".Get 12 Albums For Only 1 Penny!"
You guys remember that?
I was about 11 or 12 and full of curious mischief...my brother Wayne and I would fill out the card, tape a penny to it, list 12 lps and mail it...postage free...
When the albums arrived , we would listen to the sounds of such "hip artists" like Johnny Mathis, The Osmond Brothers ("Down By The Lazy River"), Steppenwolf, The Carpenters, and Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.
Of course, we hadn't read the rules and regulations and didn't know at the time that we were obligated to buy two or three albums at the regular price...he, we were 11 or 12 years old!
Good times...good times...
