Working at a family -owned company was pretty cool in the 70s and 80s.
Sometimes the president, Bud Reiss, would buy the employees lunch...usually KFC, and at Xmas, we would normally get a modest bonus.
I always looked forward to that, which was usually 25 bucks.
One year, we noticed that Mr. Bud didn't have the usual envelopes to hand out on Xmas eve...
...until (after a heartfelt speech) he handed out checks...as a bonus...for $500.00!
I think two or three ladies fainted...
Well the checks were for $500.00...minus taxes) which gave us a total of $455.00 (Mr. Bud was business savvy if nothing else.)
Needless to say we all had a great Christmas that year.
