Everybody that knows me knows I am a big fan of all types of music.
Today and tomorrow, I will introduce you to two people I have met that sorta formed many of my musical tastes.
Of course, my fatter, Robert Lee was very instrumental in me learning the classics like Fats Domino , Chuck Berry and the like but there is a young lady that introduced me to funk.
Her name is Cheryl Shelby.
My relationship with Cheryl was...sorta...complicated...
She was the daughter of my Daddy's girlfriend, Bernice, and she also served as my girlfriend for a limited time.
Complicated.
She also introduced me to a band called Cameo and their album, "We All Know Who We Are", that featured "Why Have I Lost You", and "It's Over" and "It's Serious."
Cheryl also had me listen to "Natalie Cole Live!" and I fell in love with "The Sophisticated Lady."
So thanks to Daddy and Cheryl, I was on my way to being a real lover of music.
