Called a 'bully' for this photo, woman responds it's inspirational

When former pageant queen and fitness competitor Maria Kang first put this photo up on her Facebook page, she didn't imagine the kind of reaction it would get. It's been up for a year and people are still responding to it. While many are complimentary, some accuse Kang of fat shaming, calling her a bully. Kang says she understands that people are angry, but the negative reactions still frustrate her. She continues to defend the photo as inspirational, and reposted it along with a response to the criticism. She says she's sorry people "resonated with [the image] in such a negative way," stressing that their interpretations aren't her fault. The new post has sparked a new round of responses.
